Brokerage has been at the heart of Origen’s business activities since the group’s inception in 1995, and we combine this nearly three decades of experience with very strong regional and international trade links to ensure our clients benefit from bespoke supply chain solutions.

On the demand side we work with some of the largest corporate agro-processors and seek to fulfil their annual consumptive requirements by purchasing at best advantage from the local crop or arranging cost effective import solutions. On the supply side, we advise our farmers when is best to sell according to their individual farm cashflow requirements, and when to hold pending market volatility and opportunities to increase individual crop returns.

Moreover, as a result of the massive disparity between the prices achieved in the capital city and those noted in the rural areas, we launched an outreach programme to address the fact that 85% of the annual Maize crop is produced by the small-scale sector. Our outreach programme is premised on improving household earnings and living standards by getting these farmers higher prices. We do this by operating several satellite depots closer to the small-scale producer (convenience), as part of an outreach grain aggregation initiative that has been well received by the communities we serve.

In addition to our historical role as grain traders, we have, established ourselves as one of the largest private contractors of Maize, Soya, and Wheat production in Zimbabwe, annually establishing in excess of 15,000 Ha under seasonal agri-finance productions agreements with our farmers.

Staywell Brokerage

We fulfill the annual consumptive requirements of some of Zimbabwe’s largest corporate agro processors by working with farmers to increase their individual crop returns.

Staywell Contract Farming

As one of the pioneers of Contract Farming in Zimbabwe, we assist large-scale producers with production capital and management oversight, to ensure we broker local crops with a vested stake in the production cycle.

Market Outreach
